Design Director, brand strategist & Educator
Beau Martin (they/them) is a brand strategist and design director with 15+ years helping mission-driven organizations discover and communicate their unique value. They guide purpose-driven businesses, nonprofits, and social enterprises through brand strategy and translate those insights into digital experiences that earn trust and drive growth.
Beau is the founder and Design Director of BMRTN, a boutique brand strategy and design studio based in Brooklyn, NY.

Beau’s approach to brand strategy is rooted in an unusual combination of disciplines. Trained as a product designer with a Master’s in Industrial Design from Pratt Institute, they bring systems thinking and physical product design principles to digital work, a perspective that shapes how they think about brand architecture, user experience, and the relationship between strategy and execution.
Their academic background in Latin American studies (Smith College) gives them a lens for understanding how design intersects with culture, community, and identity. This perspective is central to how they approach brand strategy for organizations serving diverse audiences.
When Beau is not working with clients, they are faculty in Pratt Institute’s Department of Industrial Design, where they teach design thinking, storytelling, and AI integration to prepare the next generation of designers for complex challenges including sustainability, accessibility, and emerging technology. They have been teaching at Pratt since 2008.
In their free time they train in Japanese martial arts at Brooklyn Aikikai.
