This project was a finalist in the “Digging Deeper: Building Blocks for Sustainable Design” competition sponsored by the IDSA San Francisco Chapter in Spring 2010. Click the image above to see our entry.

The Community Seeds Project is a collaboration of Kai Jaffe (product designer), Oren Jaffe (business consultant) and myself to address the challenges of urban gardening in San Francisco.

    Excerpt from our competition submission:

“Community Seeds Project (CSP) operates under the assumption that a larger number of people would create and embrace community based agriculture if there were more visible, straight forward, simple tools, resources, and technologies available.

CSP has two main components. First is an interactive Web 2.0 social media and subscription focused website which has everything from tips for a successful urban garden, to connecting with local sustainable farmers, live meet-ups with successful urban farming leaders, and community garden events, and parties.

Our second component is the zero-waste CSP ‘Urban Gardening Kit’ that you’ll receive with your subscription. The kit comes with almost everything one needs to successfully grow an urban garden. It has the recycled material planter along with the information you need to go into the local community to procure your seedlings and dirt.

The Community Seeds Project is the starting point to plant, grow, build, connect, and share community.”

Some clients require extensive iteration and re-iteration until they find a brand look-and-feel that matches who they are. This series of logo designs shows some of the process for the development of the new Advion BioSciences brand. The spray graphic is a visualization of the particular technology this company has patented to identify the chemical elements of certain unknown substances. The substance is sprayed onto a chip which is then analyzed by a computer.

Formerly known as the Sheffield School of Interior Design, the Sheffield School changed their name in order to offer a broader range of courses. I developed this logo to establish the school as a provider of courses for the creative professional.
